IMS understands the problem with congestion on our highways and roadways especially traveling through Fairfield CT and Westchester NY. We are aware that many traffic studies and analysis have been performed on this issue with no real solution. IMS has come up with a Green low cost travel alternative to help reduce traffic on the highways while lowering CT and NY’s carbon foot print at the same time. We understand that this is not a solve all solution but our studies indicate that this system combined with a rejuvenated and refined mass transit program could make a workable solution for the issue.
IMS presents: Carbon Smart Travel (CST)
The CST Member Plan:
Commuter’s rent or lease Green CST cars from the parking lots of any Train or Plane station terminal. The commuter can lease the cars by the, day, month or year. CST members take the car home with them at night, weekends or just use it for day travel. CST utilizes preferred and valet parking close to the terminals.
Example, A CST member drives to the station or terminal and drops off the leased CST car and enters the train or plane. Upon reaching the destination and exiting the train or plane the CST member gets into another CST car at takes it for the rest of the day or over night etc. If the commuter is heading back home for the day, they will drop the CST car off, enters the train or plane and head home or to another destination. Upon exiting the train at the final destination, they can either get picked up or take another CST lease car home for the night, weekend etc. This could be the same car they left in the morning or a different one depending upon demand.
Members are pre-approved and use identification badges which are scanned for quick service, payment and exiting from the terminal. Members must call or email 24hrs in advance or set up for period at a time. Exceptions upon availability of CST cars
CST can offer different Member plans daily, overnight, weekends or just destination. The state can offer tax incentives, Grants of low interest funding etc to help promote the program and growth.
You can see this is a simple plan. Our feeling is that more commuters would use mass transit such as trains if they did not have to deal with costly taxi’s, congested parking lots and long check outs at their destination. The mass transit system would need to assist in this effort and help with additional scheduling etc. More train station should be built along with additional trains making more stops.
The CST Company Plan:
The CST Company will rent parking spaces in train or plane terminal lots starting with a minimum of four spaces close to the terminal for convenience. In one space the office will be installed and in the other three spaces, 6 smart cars will be parked. Expansion is based on demand and diversity of member check in and out diversity. Off site parking for addition cars may be needed for staging in areas which parking is a premium near the terminal station.
CST GREEN Offices use wireless internet services from satellites, photovoltaic or generator power supplies with ups backup. High efficiency HVAC systems. Laptop computing with member and card scanning capabilities. Lockers can be available at the office but clients are not encouraged to leave anything in the car once they drop them off. The office is equipped as a mini detailing shop. Attendant cleans cars in between customers. One attendant on site at all times with a district manager.
Possible State and Federal government grants and incentives should be made available. MTA or other authorities profit sharing possibilities. MTA and other organizations can offer package discount deals for commuters utilizing both the train and CST lease.
